Periodontal Treatment
Periodontal disease is caused by plaque build-up on your teeth. If not removed, plaque becomes hard and forms tartar, which brushing cannot eliminate. If the plaque and tartar remain on the teeth, bacteria also forms and irritates the gums, causing gingivitis. Left untreated, gingivitis develops into periodontitis, and the gums pull away from the teeth and expose the tooth roots to infection.
We treat periodontal disease with periodontal scaling, root planing, and local antibiotics. This treatment removes tartar and calculus from the root surfaces of the tooth and kills bacteria. The goal is to reduce any pockets between the gums and teeth without surgery.
Taylor Dental offers Invisalign® aligners for straightening teeth. Easier than traditional braces, Invisalign® requires no messy molds and no brackets. We plan your alignment schedule with software that uses digital imaging of your teeth to create clear aligners that will be changed about every two weeks. We will see you periodically to check your progress and provide your next sets of aligners. Is it time to straighten your teeth with virtually invisible aligners?
Regardless of the reason you’ve lost a tooth, you should see a dentist to fill the gap. Leaving the space open invites other teeth
Gum Disease Treatment with PerioProtect®
Previously the only way to solve deep-tissue gum infections was by surgically opening the gums and cleaning the root surfaces over multiple appointments. Now, Dr. Taylor can prescribe custom Perio Trays® with prescription medication. These trays are designed to hold the medication below the gumline where it is needed. PerioProtect can reduce or eliminate the need for surgical intervention for patients with periodontitis. Ask us for more information!
