Preventive Care
Your oral health depends on more than just brushing and flossing. There are areas in your mouth that just don’t get completely clean with your at-home regimen. That’s why we schedule you for biannual preventive care appointments. These appointments include a professional cleaning, tartar removal, and oral exam, including oral cancer screening. Some exams will include digital x-rays, panoramic x-rays, fluoride treatments, or sealants (for pediatric patients).

Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal disease is characterized by bleeding gums, inflamed or receding gums, bad breath, gum abscess, or loose teeth. While these are typical symptoms, you may have no signs at all, particularly if you are a smoker (nicotine decreases blood supply to the gums so they don’t bleed or swell easily).

Periodontal disease is caused by plaque build-up on your teeth. If not removed, plaque becomes hard and forms tartar, which brushing cannot eliminate. If the plaque and tartar remain on the teeth, bacteria also forms and irritates the gums, causing gingivitis. Left untreated, gingivitis develops into periodontitis, and the gums pull away from the teeth and expose the tooth roots to infection.

We treat periodontal disease with periodontal scaling, root planing, and local antibiotics. This treatment removes tartar and calculus from the root surfaces of the tooth and kills bacteria. The goal is to reduce any pockets between the gums and teeth without surgery.

Orthodontics

Taylor Dental offers Invisalign® aligners for straightening teeth. Easier than traditional braces, Invisalign® requires no messy molds and no brackets. We plan your alignment schedule with software that uses digital imaging of your teeth to create clear aligners that will be changed about every two weeks. We will see you periodically to check your progress and provide your next sets of aligners. Is it time to straighten your teeth with virtually invisible aligners?

Dental Implants

Regardless of the reason you’ve lost a tooth, you should see a dentist to fill the gap. Leaving the space open invites other teeth drift into the space, causing misalignment of the biting surfaces of the teeth. This can lead to bite problems, pain, speech issues, and more. Dental implants are a permanent solution for tooth loss. Dental implants require a procedure for inserting a titanium post into your jaw and covering it with a natural-looking crown. Ask Dr. Taylor if dental implants are right for you.

Gum Disease Treatment with PerioProtect®

Brushing, flossing, and rinsing are important, but they can’t reach the areas located in pockets deep below the gumline. Avoid gum surgery with PerioProtect®, a noninvasive treatment for infected gum tissue that’s unreachable by other methods.

Previously the only way to solve deep-tissue gum infections was by surgically opening the gums and cleaning the root surfaces over multiple appointments. Now, Dr. Taylor can prescribe custom Perio Trays® with prescription medication. These trays are designed to hold the medication below the gumline where it is needed. PerioProtect can reduce or eliminate the need for surgical intervention for patients with periodontitis. Ask us for more information!

Pinhole® Surgical Technique

We are pleased to offer a revolutionary procedure to correct receding gums called Pinhole® Surgical Technique PST. There are many reasons for gum recession, including aggressive tooth brushing, insufficient dental care, hormonal changes, using tobacco products, grinding teeth, and more. This minimally invasive treatment is scalpel-free, suture-free, and graft-free. Patients can expect minimal post-operative symptoms, where most can resume light normal activities within 24-48 hours after treatment. This procedure not only can help save teeth, but it can enhance a more youthful and attractive appearance.
