Botox® Cosmetic

Botox® Cosmetic has been FDA-approved for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. It is not interchangeable with any other product used for this purpose. Only Botox® is backed by over 15 years of clinical studies and medical evidence. You should know that this cosmetic treatment is not permanent. You will see results in the 24-48 hours after treatment. The improvement in the appearance of wrinkles will last up to four months, at which time the treatment may be repeated. We also use Botox® to reshape and enhance smiles. Bruxism, the clenching and grinding of teeth, plagues one in three people at some point in their lives. Over time, this causes damage to tooth enamel, periodontal disease, pain, and headaches. In some cases, a mouth guard is helpful in eliminating the damage from bruxism. In other cases, Botox® is carefully injected into the muscles that control the jaw to stop the spasm of the muscles without affecting the patient’s ability to speak and chew.

Botox® for Oral-Facial Pain

Patients with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) may benefit from Botox® injections. Dr. Taylor will perform an examination, palpating the areas the patient has identified as painful, to identify muscle spasms and trigger points. By injecting directly into the trigger point, the intense contractions of the muscle will be interrupted and hopefully return to normal function.
